Grimsby Town Football Club is proud to support the EFL’s Together Against Racism campaign, running from 16th – 26th October, bringing together all 72 EFL clubs to challenge racism wherever it occurs and reinforce the message that it has no place in football, online or in our communities.

At Grimsby Town, we are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and can enjoy football free from racism and all forms of discrimination. Football has the power to unite people from different backgrounds, and we all have a responsibility to ensure that Blundell Park and the wider game remain inclusive spaces for everyone.

Through our work with the Club’s community programmes, supporters and local partners, we continue to play our part in promoting inclusion and challenging discrimination. The Together Against Racism campaign provides an important opportunity to reaffirm that commitment and encourage supporters to take action when they witness racist behaviour.

REPORT IT. CHALLENGE IT. STOP IT.

A key focus of this year’s campaign is encouraging supporters to report incidents of racism directly to clubs as soon as they happen.

EFL data from last season shows that 63% of live racism incidents reported directly to clubs resulted in individuals being identified and action being taken. Reporting an incident on matchday was also more than twice as likely to lead to an offender being identified than a post-match report.

Almost nine in every 10 successful identifications last season came from incidents reported directly to clubs on matchday. Reporting concerns promptly allows clubs, stewards and the relevant authorities to act quickly, gather evidence and identify those responsible.

If you witness or experience racism at Blundell Park, please report it to a steward or a member of Club staff as soon as possible. You can also contact the Club directly through our official channels. Please provide as much detail as possible to help us investigate the incident appropriately.

Every report matters. By speaking up, supporters can help ensure that discriminatory behaviour is challenged and those responsible are held accountable.

A UNITED FRONT

Ahead of the campaign, EFL Chief Executive Trevor Birch said:

“Football has a unique ability to bring communities together and give people a sense of belonging. Racism undermines that bond, which is why it remains critically important that the EFL, its Clubs, players, staff and supporters stand united against it wherever it is seen or heard.”

Vikki Harries, Safeguarding & EDI Manager at Grimsby Town, said:

“Racism and discrimination have no place in football or in our wider community. At Grimsby Town, we want everyone who comes to Blundell Park to feel welcome, safe and respected, regardless of their background. Tackling racism is a responsibility we all share, and it’s vital that supporters feel confident to speak up and report any incidents they witness or experience. By reporting incidents immediately to a steward or member of Club staff, we can take action and help ensure those responsible are held accountable. Together, we can create an environment where everyone belongs and enjoys football free from discrimination.”

The EFL and its clubs remain committed to confronting racism in all its forms, whether in stadiums, online or in the wider community.

At Grimsby Town, we want everyone who visits Blundell Park to feel safe, respected and welcome. Tackling racism is not the responsibility of one individual or organisation; it requires all of us to play our part.

Together, we can challenge racism, support those affected and help ensure football remains a place where everyone belongs.
