Grimsby Town midfielder Harry Clifton says he’s excited to experience the third round of the Emirates FA Cup for the first time ever.
The Town academy graduate scored the Mariners’ second as Michael Jolley’s side beat Chesterfield 2-0 at Proact Stadium in the second round of the competition.
And Clifton said he’s looking forward to experiencing the third round, where Premier League and Sky Bet Championship sides enter, for the first time ever.
Speaking on iFollow Mariners, he said: “We were desperate to win that game – we knew how much it means to the fans.
“And to be in the third round – I’ve never been there! Even the likes of Danny Collins – I’m sure he’s buzzing.
“And I know he’s been through the FA Cup so many times, but it’s a special thing, and I’m glad we’ve got over the line.
“The most important thing was to get the win, but I’m delighted to have contributed to that with a goal.”
And the 20-year-old said he’s dreaming of a third round tie with Liverpool or Manchester United, ahead of tonight’s draw (7.30pm).
