Ahead of the new Sky Bet League Two campaign, we are pleased to announce improvements to the ‘Release your seat’ feature which allows season ticket holders to release their seat to other supporters on a game-by-game basis.

A year ago, we launched the ‘Release Your Seat’ initiative that gave supporters who couldn’t make a game the opportunity to give up their seat so another supporter could take their place. Over the course of 2022/23, this helped over 1,000 fans secure tickets for games at Blundell Park. Thank you to everyone who has already given up their seat for the Club to sell back to supporters.

Before our first game of the new season on Saturday, we wanted to update fans about changes that will further incentivise supporters to use the feature if they can’t attend a game.

• Adults who release their seats on five occasions during the 2023/24 campaign and are sold will receive a £25 discount off a 2024/25 season ticket.
• Concessions who release their seats on five occasions during the 2023/24 campaign and are sold will receive a £12.50 discount off a 2024/25 season ticket.
• Every supporter who has released their seat during a given month will go into a prize draw which will take place on the last home league game of each month.
• Every supporter who releases their seat over the course of the season will be entered into a ‘Grand Draw’ to win a 2024/25 season ticket.

Speaking of the ‘Release Your Seat’ initiative, CEO Debbie Cook said: “Since last season’s record-breaking season ticket sales, it’s no secret that we have struggled to keep up with the demand for tickets on a matchday at Blundell Park. After selling over 5,500 season tickets again this summer, we knew that we needed to enhance the offer for supporters who can’t make games to release their seats, so that we had more tickets available to sell to fans who could attend.

“We listened to feedback and we feel that offering a discount off a 2024/25 season ticket, as well as a chance to win a great prize every month, makes it a much better incentive to supporters who choose to help us.

“Hopefully this new, improved ‘Release Your Seat’ feature will help keep our attendances at BP as high as they have been in a generation and reward our loyal supporters at the same time.”

How to release your seat

All season ticket holders need to do is go to their “My Account” area, select “My Current Tickets”, scroll down to the specific game and click “I cannot Attend a Match – Release My Seat”. The Ticket Office team will then be notified who has given up their seats and they will be included in the monthly draw.

We are also working on a feature that will see season ticket holders emailed directly before the game asking them if they wish to release their seat. Then, all supporters will need to do is click the button.

We hope that season ticket holders who can’t attend games will continue to use this feature, so we continue to see a packed-out Blundell Park throughout 2023/24.
