We are delighted to officially launch the re-named Grimsby Town Foundation.
The organisation can trace its roots back to 1986 when it was originally established as ‘Grimsby Town Football in the Community’ with a focus on fostering a strong connection between the football club and the local community, particularly by engaging with young people.
Under the title of ‘Grimsby Town Sports & Education Trust’, it achieved registered charity status just over a decade ago, and last year supporters voted in our Supporters’ Survey to re-name the charity the Grimsby Town Foundation – a name which better illustrates its place within the community.
Speaking about the re-launch of the Grimsby Town Foundation, CEO Debbie Cook said, “I’m really excited we are able to officially launch the Grimsby Town Foundation, formerly known as Grimsby Town Sports & Education Trust.
“We wanted the name of the organisation to better represent what we do in Grimsby, Cleethorpes and beyond and we were delighted when supporters chose the Grimsby Town Foundation as the new name in last season’s Supporters’ Survey.
“Its values, strategy, and vision are dedicated to further enhance community engagement, working in collaboration with our various partner agencies.
“We hope that the power of our badge will help the Club deliver more projects which will benefit people in our area even more.”
What the Grimsby Town Foundation does
Grimsby Town Foundation is dedicated to four core areas of focus: Sports Participation, Health, Education, and Sports Inclusion. However, these are by no means the sole areas of focus of the organisation as all programs are in a constant state of evolution; driven by the ambition to become a well-established, forward-thinking, and self-sustaining initiative that extends its reach throughout the communities in North-East Lincolnshire and Lincolnshire.
The Foundation’s work has improved the lives of thousands of people within our community over the years, through their important work within local primary schools and various community-focused initiatives, all aimed at helping the people in our community who need it most.
In addition to the programs delivered in schools and holiday courses, the Foundation also offer young people a route into higher education and coaching through their BTEC scholarships and partnership with the University of South Wales, and access to funding which has led to the development of the Family Fanzone at Blundell Park and the #RememberWhenGTFC heritage project.
To improve the awareness of the excellent work the Foundation is doing in our community every day, a new website, designed by local web-design agency Sourcefour, with information about all the courses, provisions and support available, is now live. You can access it by visiting www.grimsbytownfoundation.co.uk.
The Foundation also has Facebook and Twitter accounts to follow if you would like to receive more regular updates about their work.
