We are delighted to announce that club captain, Kieran Green has penned a new deal keeping him at Blundell Park until summer 2029.
A firm-fan favourite at Blundell Park, Green initially joined the Mariners back in summer 2022 and has not looked back since, having played 168 times for Town.
The 29-year-old midfielder reached new heights in attacking output last season, finishing the regular campaign with 13 goals and 7 assists in Sky Bet League Two, establishing himself as one of the division’s most productive and well-rounded midfielders.
Taking over as club captain part-way through last season, ‘Greeny’ has consistently provided for the Mariners at key moments, becoming the first central midfielder since Paul Groves to get over 20 goals and assists in all competitions for Town.
Having transitioned into a more attacking player over the last few seasons under Artell, Green has been a revelation, regularly turning matches on their head, notably scoring and assisting in the Play-Off Semi Final against Salford City.
On signing a new deal with the club, Green said:
“I’m over the moon to sign. I had a good think about things over the summer and there was only one answer in the end. It’s a Town and a club that values hard work and has been like that since day one; it’s the sort of place I want to play my football.”
Everyone at Grimsby Town congratulates Kieran on his new contract, and we look forward to seeing him continue his journey with the Mariners.
