Rekeil is one of the Mariners’ new recruits and made the move this summer from Shrewsbury Town after making forty-two appearances in all competitions last season for the Sky Bet League One club.
Best known as a striker, Pyke has also played out wide and, last season, featured regularly in an unfamiliar wing-back role.
The Leeds-born 25-year-old came through the youth setup at Huddersfield Town and took in loan spells with four clubs – Wrexham (2016 & 2018-19), Colchester United (2017), Port Vale (2017-18) and Rochdale (2019-20) across his four years with the Terriers. He only made one appearance for Huddersfield – in February 2020 – before leaving the club the following summer.
Following his Huddersfield release, he made the switch to Shrewsbury Town, signing a three-year deal. Across his three seasons with the League One club, he made seventy-seven appearances in all competitions.
Upon departing Salop, he signed a two-year deal with the Mariners with Paul Hurst confirming that, despite playing different roles in recent years, he sees Pyke as a centre-forward.
