Grimsby Town Football Club has achieved Bronze in the EFL Equality Code of Practice.
Initially launched in 2012, the EFL’s Equality Code of Practice is awarded to Clubs for their work around Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; ensuring that supporters are not discriminated against on the grounds of their gender, race, religion, age, or if they have a disability.
After receiving the award for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 season, the Club’s Dedicated Lead Safeguarding Officer, Vikki Harries, said, “We are delighted that we have achieved bronze level in the EFL’s Equality Code of Practice.”
“As a Club, we are committed to making sure our staff receive regular training on important issues such as inclusivity and anti-discrimination. Through the work of our charitable arm, Grimsby Town Foundation, we continue to develop partnerships with local community organisations who represent people who are traditionally hard to reach, all with the aim of making Blundell Park a place where everyone feels welcome.
“Our work is far from over, but it’s great to receive recognition from the EFL for what we have already achieved in this area.”
EFL Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, David McArdle, said, “Our 72 Clubs represent communities of people from a wide variety of diverse backgrounds. The EFL’s Code of Practice is the foundation on which our work on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is built, providing Clubs with a clear framework and setting out exactly what they need to put in place to ensure the Club is reflective of the community at all levels.
“The progress being made is very encouraging and the EFL will continue to support and empower all Clubs to make a positive impact on their communities and the wider game.”
