The women’s team travelled to Scunthorpe on Sunday, for a league fixture against Appleby Frodingham Ladies.
Following the disappointment of the FA Women’s Cup last week, the Mariners were looking to bounce back and build on their impressive start to the season which had already seen them take maximum points in the first three games. They didn’t disappoint either, in what was an emphatic 10-1 win.
Town led at halftime, with goals coming from Danielle Brighton and a brace apiece from both Ellie Wilson and Amber Sharp (pictured). More of the same came in the second half, with Sharp adding a further two goals. Rebecca Taylor also was on the scoresheet for the first time this season, and then two young 16-year-old players added to the scoresheet. Holly Smith registered her first-ever senior goal, and Emily Blyth rounded off a good display with a goal too, on what was her full debut.
