The Club is delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Kamil Conteh on a three-year deal after agreeing an undisclosed fee with Middlesbrough.
The 20-year-old joined the Sky Bet Championship club last summer from fellow second-tier side Watford and spent most of last season with Gateshead in the National League.
An impressive campaign saw him voted their Fans’ Player of the Year and helped the Tyneside club reach the FA Trophy Final.
His impressive form in the fifth tier saw many clubs register interest in the midfielder with the Mariners ultimately winning the battle for his signature.
On his new recruit, manager Paul Hurst said: “I’m really pleased to have signed Kamil. He was on our wishlist for some time, certainly over the summer and at the end of last season when we watched him a few times.
“He really impressed us then so he’s been an ongoing target for us. He’s a good midfield player, he can play off either foot and receives the ball well. He gets around the pitch extremely well and he is a young player that we feel has got so much potential.
“I’m really pleased to have secured his signature and we’ve fought off quite a lot of competition to get there. We had a Zoom meeting initially and then he came up to the training ground so quite a bit of work has gone into this signing.
“We’re really pleased that he felt it is the right time to progress his career and we’re delighted to have him.”
