Mariners Support Community-Focused Activities

Grimsby Town Football Club is proud to announce the community-focused activities we will be supporting over the Christmas period.

Every year, the Club, Foundation and Mariners Trust team up to help the people in our community who need it the most and spread a little Christmas cheer to our supporters, both young and old, along the way.

Thursday 12th December – Junior & Disabled Supporters Christmas Party

The Men’s First Team, David Artell, his staff, Polly Bancroft and representatives of the Women’s First Team will be in McMenemy’s on Thursday afternoon to meet over 100 very excited youngsters for the sold-out Christmas party for junior members of the Mariners Trust.

The players and staff will also make an appearance at our Disabled Supporters Association’s annual Christmas party later on that evening, carrying on a tradition that’s been going for decades.

Saturday 14th December – Gift Donation Appeal before the Crewe game

Saturday is the final day for supporters to contribute to our Gift Donation Appeal, in conjunction with Grimsby Town Foundation and the Mariners Trust. We are looking for food, toys, warm clothing and gifts to donate to local charities ahead of Christmas and this year we are supporting We are One Foundation, Harbour Place, Women’s Aid and The Ark.

Supporters who haven’t already donated will be able to do so ahead of the Crewe Alexandra game on Saturday. They will be able to drop off their items on the turnstiles on their way into the stadium. A big thank you to everyone who has donated to the appeal so far.

Thursday 19th December – Grimsby Hospital and St Andrews Hospice visits

After training next Thursday, half of the Men’s First Team will visit the Children’s Ward of Grimsby Hospital and give out GTFC-related gifts and presents to the young people. While the others will go and pay our friends at St Andrews Hospice a visit.

Speaking of our community activities this Christmas, Chief Executive Polly Bancroft said, “Grimsby Town FC is a community Club, you only have to look at the position of Blundell Park in the middle of lines of terrace housing to see that, and Christmas is a time where it’s important to give back to the people in our community.

“We are passionate about supporting visits to our local hospital, hospice, appearances at junior and disabled parties and facilitating gift donation appeals. It’s what a football club that represents the community should be doing and something we look forward to every year.”
