Mariners To Highlight Continued Support For Rainbow Laces Campaign

Football Clubs across the country will unite in their support of LGBT inclusivity by turning their corner flags rainbow coloured to raise awareness of Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign.

On Saturday 11th December, for the home game against Chesterfield, Grimsby Town Football Club will highlight their continued support for LGBT fans, players, and staff across the game with rainbow captain’s armbands, laces, and programme adverts.

Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign is in support of LGBT equality with a key theme for this year focused on creating more allies to LGBT people in sport.

Grimsby Town Football Club’s support for Rainbow Laces forms part of its wider LGBT work delivered in conjunction with Clubs through the Equality Code of Practice. This includes delivering activities, setting policies, and advising on recruitment and education.

Grimsby Town Football Club will join the footballing family to deliver a key message that ‘Football is everyone’s game’ this weekend. We are stronger when everyone feels welcome, and it’s down to all of us to make that happen.

We will ensure everyone within the organisation and all those connected to the club, including supporters, feel safe and welcome, irrespective of sexual orientation or gender identity.

A key focus of the partnership with Stonewall will be encouraging LGBT+ acceptance among children and young people involved in community and education initiatives such as Premier League Primary Stars and Premier League Kicks delivered by Grimsby Town Sports and Education Trust and within our Academy setup. We at Grimsby Town Football Club have delivered various educational workshops across all aspects of the club for greater togetherness and understanding.
