Manchester United are the visitors to Blundell Park tonight for our eagerly-anticipated Carabao Cup Round Two clash against Premier League giants Manchester United, kick-off 8pm.
It will be the Red Devils’ first trip to Cleethorpes since 1948, when the two clubs played out a 1-1 draw in the old First Division. Since then, United have gone on to become one of the biggest clubs in world football, winning the Premier League on no less than 13 occasions.
The Mariners however, have made an unbeaten start to the season and have a great head-to-head record against United, losing only two of their last 17 encounters!
Listen to what our Head Coach said about tonight’s game in yesterday’s press conference:
As previously communicated, the game is a complete sell-out, so we are expecting a bumper gate at Blundell Park this evening. No tickets will be available to purchase from Ticket Office.
We want to create a wall of colour, noise and passion for the club later, so we are calling on Mariners to don their black and white (shirts, scarves and hats) and bring along their Harry Haddocks for the occasion!
Due the to size of the anticipated attendance, supporters in the Technical Absorbents Stand and Covered Corner are to exit via the rear of the Pontoon and out of the Imperial corner exits. We apologise for any convenience this may cause.
We’d like to remind fans to enter Blundell Park by the entrance stated on their ticket to avoid any delays and that any supporters wearing opponent apparel will not be admitted into the home end.
The game will be broadcast live on ITV 1 and on Sky Sports Football to a huge global audience.
The Fan Zone will be open for supporters from 6pm, with the Chicken Man and Docks Beers providing refreshments. The Lower Bar will also open from 6pm, with other bars around the ground opening from 6:30pm when the turnstiles open.
The food caterers around the ground are:
Lower Ramsden’s Home Interiors – The Dogs
Upper Ramsden’s Home Interiors – Sharky’s
Pontoon – Cooky Cooks
Technical Absorbents Stand – Food Dudes
Osmond Stand – Hatricks
Away End – Dave at the No1
We will be giving supporters one complimentary copy of The Mariner on entry into the ground. This will be a bumper 100-page edition, packed with features on the club’s connections with tonight’s opponents. If supporters would like to purchase additional copies, they will be on sale from the Club Shop priced at £5.
The Club Shop will be open right up until kick-off for supporters to get their hands on some Mariners merch or souvenirs. Please note that we are already starting to sell out of several sizes in the away and third shirt. However, we have placed a top up order and expect those to be with us before the end of September.
Mighty Mariner will be around the ground from 7pm onwards and will be available for photos with supporters.
Due to competition rules, a live stream won’t be available on Mariners TV.
