Next up for David Artell’s men is a rearranged fixture under the lights at Blundell Park against fellow promotion-chasing Notts County.
The Magpies are experiencing only their second consecutive season in Sky Bet League Two, following promotion through the National League play-offs at the end of the 2022-23 season. Since their return to the fourth tier, the Nottingham based outfit have finished 14th and currently sit fifth in the hopes of earning promotion to League One. In our previous meeting earlier this season, it was Notts County who came out on top, winning 4-1, with Town’s only goal coming from Harvey Rodgers at the end of the first half.
Over the 35 games played this season, The Magpies have won 16, drawn ten and lost nine. Their recent form has seen them win only once in their last six league outings and they will be looking for their first win on the road since the start of last month.
David Artell previews the visit of Notts County
Notts County are managed by 44-year-old Stuart Maynard, who has been in charge for over a year after taking the position at Meadow Lane in January 2024. Maynard previously managed Wealdstone and before that enjoyed spells at multiple non-league clubs, including Hemel Hempstead Town who he helped guide to the Southern League title in 2014.
A key player for the Magpies will be striker Alassana Jatta. Jatta sits second in the League Two goal-scoring charts, with 16 goals and another three in cup competitions. The Gambian forward began his English football adventure at Meadow Lane in February last year and has scored 24 goals in 43 appearances during that time. The 26-year-old offers the Magpies’ biggest attacking threat, with his pace and movement on and off the ball making him unpredictable to come up against. Artell’s men will have to be at their best to suppress Jatta’s forward output, in what will surely be an exciting clash.
