Match Preview & Information: Gillingham (H)

David Artell previews the visit of Gillingham

Preview

Next up for David Artell’s men is a home tie against Gillingham, who currently reside in 17th place in the Sky Bet League Two table, seven points behind the Mariners.

This is the Gills’ fourth season back in League Two after relegation from League One at the end of the 2021-22 season. This season, the Kent outfit have accumulated 31 points and over their 25 matches played this season, have won nine, drawn four and lost 12. Over their last five league games, they have most recently drawn away at Tranmere and lost the other four, with their last win coming away at MK Dons on the 14th December.

Gillingham are managed by 62-year-old John Coleman who had previously been manager of numerous clubs, most notably Accrington Stanley on two separate occasions between 1999-2012 and 2014-2024.
A key player for the Gills will likely be top goal-scorer, Jayden Clarke. The young midfielder/forward, who joined Gillingham back in January 2023, has played 78 times, scoring 12 goals. Beginning his career in Tottenham Hotspur’s Academy, the 23-year-old has netted seven times this season and will likely be a key attacking outlet come tomorrow night.
