Match Preview | v Tranmere Rovers

The Mariners welcome Tranmere Rovers to Blundell Park tomorrow (kick off, 3pm) in Sky Bet League Two.

Despite overcoming League One opposition twice to reach the third round of the Emirates FA Cup, Paul Hurst’s men are still chasing their first win in the league since October. While our visitors, who sit two places above the Mariners in the table, also haven’t won since October.

We have created this preview to bring you all the key information you need to know, heading into tomorrow’s game.

Team News

Michee Efete may be back in contention despite the injury he received at AFC Wimbledon last weekend. The right back returned to training on Thursday and could feature.

Town will be without Bim Pepple and Lewis Richardson who both picked up knocks last weekend.

Highlights of the game will be available on YouTube on Sunday morning, while extended highlights will be on Mariners TV in the afternoon.

Previous Meetings

Tomorrow will be the 68th meeting between the two clubs, with Town winning 29 of those encounters, Tranmere 21 and 17 games ended in a draw.

Town last beat Rovers in 2018, when Harry Clifton, Wes Thomas, Harry Davis, Mitch Rose and Elliot Embleton all got on the scoresheet in a 5-2 victory.

The last game was a 0-0 draw at Blundell Park towards the end of the 2020-21 League Two season.

Kit Colours

Tranmere will be in their all-teal away kit and we, of course, will be in our famous black and white stripes.

Referee

Sebastian Stockbridge will be the man in the middle – he was in charge of our Carabao Cup game against Nottingham Forest at the beginning of the season.

He will be accompanied by assistants Stephen Wade, Alex Gray and the Four Official Wayne Grunnill.
