Midfielder Andrews signs on loan!

We are pleased to confirm the signing of central midfielder Jamie Andrews on loan from West Bromwich Albion for the rest of the season.

The 20-year-old signed his first professional contract with the Baggies during the summer of 2021 and had an ten-match loan spell with Yeovil Town last season.

Andrews made his professional debut for the Sky Bet Championship side earlier this year in West Brom’s 4-0 Emirates FA Cup Third Round replay victory against Chesterfield.

On bringing Andrews to Blundell Park, manager Paul Hurst said: “We’ve brought Jamie in to give us more competition in midfield. We think he’s a player that is comfortable playing in a couple of roles in that midfield and, with him being left-footed, he can bring a bit of balance to that area.

“He’s got a good set-play delivery as well. Jamie had a loan at Yeovil last season and, when he went there, he had a successful spell in terms of the team doing well while he was there.

“We’ve watched him at the start of this season on a few occasions and he’s always impressed so we’ve brought him in to see if he can help us improve and adds competition into an area where we already have some really good options.”

“I’m buzzing! As soon as I heard of the interest from the manager, I couldn’t wait to get here. I saw the FA Cup run last year and where the team finished last season and I want to come here to help the team to be better and maybe finish higher up the table.

“From my chats with the manager, he said the club was like a family and that there is a great bunch of lads here. They’ve all made me feel welcome, as soon as I came through the door.

“I saw what the team did last year as a group and the manager has said that he wants to do even better this season, so that was a big pull for me.”
