Grimsby Town Football Club, the Mariners Trust and Stagecoach are pleased to announce the introduction of two new dedicated matchday bus services, providing supporters with an alternative way to travel to and from Blundell Park.
The new services, the 18 and 78, will begin operating from our next home fixture against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday, with both routes providing dedicated pre-match and post-match services for supporters.
The initiative follows collaboration between the Club, the Mariners Trust and Stagecoach, with the aim of providing supporters with a more convenient travel option on matchdays and helping to reduce some of the challenges associated with parking around Blundell Park.
Route 18
The 18 will operate between Waltham and Blundell Park, travelling through:
Waltham > New Waltham > Humberston > Cleethorpes > Blundell Park
The service will operate before and after matches, with buses departing from the stops around Blundell Park following the final whistle.
Route 78
The 78 will also operate between Waltham and Blundell Park, travelling via Grimsby and Scartho:
Waltham > Springfield > Nunsthorpe > Willows > Grimsby > Blundell Park
Again, the service will operate both before and after home fixtures. Click here to see the full timetable.
Following the final whistle, buses will be waiting at stops outside St Aidan’s Church and the former Imperial site on Blundell Park’s Imperial Avenue. Services will depart approximately 15-20 minutes after the final whistle, with one service heading towards Waltham via Cleethorpes, Humberston and New Waltham, while the other will travel towards Waltham via Grimsby town centre, Willows, Nunsthorpe and Scartho.
Supporters are encouraged to check the full timetable before travelling, with the latest route information available through the Stagecoach website and app by searching for the 18 and 78 services.
The new services will provide an alternative to driving and searching for matchday parking, while also offering supporters a dedicated way to get home after evening and weekend fixtures.
We would like to thank Stagecoach for their proactive approach and willingness to work with the Club and Mariners Trust to provide these additional travel options for supporters.
Supporters are encouraged to make use of the new services wherever possible and consider public transport as part of their matchday routine.
Alice Brumpton, Marketing & Fan Experience Officer at Grimsby Town Football Club, said:
“Making matchdays as accessible as possible for our supporters is really important to us, and we know that getting home can be a particular challenge, especially for those attending weekday fixtures. We’ve listened to feedback from supporters who told us that existing public transport options could mean leaving a match early or missing their bus home.
Working with Stagecoach and The Mariners Trust has allowed us to respond directly to that feedback and provide a solution that gives supporters greater confidence in travelling to matches. Ultimately, we want our fans to be able to stay, enjoy the full 90 minutes and not have to worry about how they’re getting home.”
Chris Kelk, Stagecoach Operations Manager, said:
“We’re delighted to be working with Grimsby Town on this initiative and supporting the club and its supporters. As a local depot, we’re proud to play a role in the community and hope this is the start of a great partnership between Stagecoach and the club.”
Plan your journey, leave the car at home and get to the game by bus.
