Grimsby Town Women have enjoyed an outstanding opening half to the 2025-26 campaign, producing a run of results and performances that underline their title credentials across league and cup competitions.
Ben Thomas’ side made a flying start to the league season and remain unbeaten at the halfway stage, boasting a 100% record with eight wins from eight matches and sitting seven points clear at the top of the table heading into the new year. The Mariners have combined attacking flair with defensive resilience, scoring freely while regularly keeping clean sheets.
Eye-catching league victories have included emphatic wins away at Newark Town Ladies, a dominant North East Lincolnshire derby success over Cleethorpes Town Ladies, and composed performances against Arnold Eagles and Chesterfield Women. The squad’s attacking depth has been a key feature, with goals shared throughout the team, while standout individual displays have consistently driven Town forward.
Cup competitions have also provided plenty of drama and entertainment. The Mariners cruised into the next round of the County Cup with a commanding victory over Ropsley Ladies, before showing tremendous character in the quarter-final against Boston Town, coming from two goals down to secure a thrilling comeback win. In the League Cup, penalty heroics from Jas Lacey saw Town edge past Long Eaton United in a tense shootout, while a narrow defeat to higher-league Wellingborough Town Ladies demonstrated the squad’s ability to compete strongly against tougher opposition and underlined the progress being made.
Across the opening months, the squad has showcased intensity, creativity and togetherness, with a blend of experience and youthful energy driving consistent performances. With momentum firmly on their side, Grimsby Town Women will be looking to carry this form into the second half of the season as they continue to push on all fronts.
