PREVIEW | DONCASTER ROVERS (H)

The Mariners play host to rivals Doncaster Rovers at Blundell Park tomorrow (kick-off 3pm), in a fixture which is close to being a sell-out!

Town are looking to bounce back after suffering defeat to the hands of league leaders Stockport County a week ago and the disappointment of Tuesday’s late postponement at Colchester United.

Assistant Head Coach Shaun Pearson told the press that there are no new injury concerns head of tomorrow’s game. Alex Hunt is back in contention following his leg injury and Callum Ainley is back at the training ground taking part in solo training. Doug Tharme could also feature after returning to full training last week along with Rekeil Pyke who made his return to the matchday squad last time out against Stockport.

Doncaster Rovers

These two sides last met in late October when Doncaster claimed all three points. The only goal of the game coming through a second half penalty when Kyle Hurst was brought down in the box by Gavan Holohan before Joe Ironside beat Harvey Cartwright from the spot.

Doncaster are currently managed by former Hull and Peterborough boss Grant McCann who rejoined the Yorkshire side in the summer for his second spell at the club. McCann previously left the club in 2019 after guiding Doncaster Rovers into the Sky Bet League One Play-Offs but being defeated on penalties in the semi-final to Charlton Athletic.

Rovers enter this game unbeaten in their last three outings but only winning one out of their last seven league games which came against Tranmere Rovers. They also haven’t travelled well this season having only picked up two wins from 17 away league games.

In Doncaster’s last league game, they faced an in-form Salford City side at the Peninsula Stadium and picked up a point after a last-minute goal from Garbutt cancelled out three points for Rovers.

Tomorrow’s visitors currently have Joe Ironside as their top goalscorer having scored 15 goals and registering four assists within 35 games this season.
