The Mariners play for the second time in four days at Blundell Park with Barrow AFC making the trip from Cumbria to Cleethorpes in tonight’s Sky Bet League Two match.
George Lloyd’s second half equaliser earned Town a point against Mansfield on Saturday, a point that mathematically secured survival in our first season back in the EFL. Now, as members of the squad, as well as manager Paul Hurst, have said, focus turns to finishing as high as possible in our remaining five matches of the campaign.
Team News
Gavan Holohan returned to action from the bench on Saturday after sitting out our victory at Doncaster with a knock. Captain Luke Waterfall missed out completely against Mansfield with Hurst confirming he was simply resting the centre-back. He comes back into contention for tonight’s match.
Owen Gallacher started Saturday’s match before being withdrawn at half-time with a knock. Hurst confirmed that the left-back trained on Monday but suggested he wasn’t fully fit.
Barrow AFC
The ninth-placed visitors make the trip knowing that victory could put them one point outside of the Play-Offs. A 0-0 draw last time out at Swindon Town came off the back of a 4-0 win at home to strugglers Crawley Town.
Striker Josh Gordon is Barrow’s top scorer this season with fifteen to his name, three of those coming in that victory over Crawley.
Manager Pete Wild arrived in Cumbria ahead of the current campaign after leaving his role as FC Halifax Town’s manager.
Previous Meetings
The Mariners have a good record against Barrow, winning 18 of the 33 matches between the two sides. The Cumbrians have picked up three points on nine occasions, including the reverse fixture earlier this season when they won 1-0.
Referee
Tonight’s referee is Lewis Smith who will be taking charge of his second Town match after being the man in the middle in last season’s 2-1 home victory over Stockport County. He will be assisted by Darren Williams and Daniel Woodward.
