PREVIEW | vs. Sutton United (A)

We hit the road tonight to take on Sutton United at Gander Green Lane in Sky Bet League Two.

Paul Hurst’s men go into the match off a 1-0 victory over Rochdale on Saturday, only the Mariners’ fourth home league win of the season.

That victory put the 16th-placed Town on 42 points, the same as AFC Wimbledon and Crewe Alexandra who are one place above and one place below the Mariners, respectively.

Team News

Kieran Green returned to action in Saturday’s victory after missing just over a month of action with a rib issue.

Owen Gallacher remains out with a calf issue while and is the only player currently in the treatment room.

Sutton United

Tonight’s hosts come into this match sitting in ninth place in the League Two table in a fine run of form with the London club unbeaten in eight league matches.

Saturday saw them draw 0-0 in Cumbria against Barrow and their previous home match ended in a 3-0 victory over a struggling Crawley Town side, leaving our opponents just one point off the Play-Offs with ten league matches remaining.

Midfielder Will Randall is Sutton’s top scorer this season with six League Two goals to his name with striker Omar Bugiel one behind on five.

Manager Matt Gray has been in charge of the club since April 2019, overseeing Sutton’s promotion to the Football League for the first time in their 123-year history in May 2021.

Previous Meetings

This will be only the second time the Mariners have faced Sutton United with the other coming in the return fixture earlier this season. That match ended in a 0-0 draw at Blundell Park.

Referee

Andy Davies will be the referee tonight at Gander Green Lane. The only other Town match he has officiated was a 1-1 home draw against Cheltenham Town at Blundel Park in April 2021.

He will be assisted by George Byrne and Adam Crysell.
