PREVIEW | Women look to seal the title!

Our women team is back in action on Sunday and, with just two points needed to win the title and promotion, it could be a big day for Hayley Cox’s side.

St Joseph’s Rockaware of Worksop at the opponents at Oasis Academy Wintringham and supporters are able to attend with free entry for all.

A dominant league campaign has seen the women needing just two points from their remaining three matches but, understandably, they are looking to seal the job this weekend. The Mariners have nine wins to their name from twelve matches in the East Midlands Womens Regional Football League Division One North.

Key to the team’s success this year have been the likes of Alisha DeJonge – this season’s top scorer – and Beth Wharton with four goals and four assists between them in the team’s last three matches. Captain Danielle Brighton has also found the net with regularity in recent matches, scoring four while goalkeeper Chloe Grey has kept clean sheets in each of her last two matches.

Other than the long-term absence of winger Emily Blyth, Cox will be able to call on the majority of her squad with Chloe Wilkinson set to make her comeback from a knee injury.

With victory set to seal the title, everyone at the Club wishes the women well on Sunday and invites all supporters to head down to Oasis Wintringham to support them!
