Referee Watch | Exeter City

Sunderland based official, Andy Haines will oversee our Sky Bet League Two clash against Exeter City at Blundell Park at the weekend.

Haines, a project manager for EDF Energy, has certainly had to rack up the miles to reach his current standing in the game. When he got the call to become a Conference referee in 2005 he was in the Dominican Republic on a family holiday and faced a 4,300-mile dash to get the job.

It proved worthwhile as he was duly promoted before getting his Football League calling in 2007.

He is no stranger to the Mariners and has taken charge of several of our games in the past – including this season’s Leasing.com tie against Scunthorpe United back in September.

So far this season he has shown 68 Yellow Cards and seven Red Cards.

Mr Haines will be assisted by Paul Newhouse and Simon Clayton, the Fourth Official will be Christopher Ward.
