Referee Watch | Macclesfield Town

James Adcock will be the man with the whistle when the Mariners host Macclesfield Town on Saturday.

This will be the Nottinghamshire based official’s second-ever Grimsby Town fixture – the first being last season’s fixture at Oldham in March.

The Select Group Two referee is back as a match official after a long injury lay-off which kept him out of action from April 2017 until March 2019, missing the entirety of 2017-18 and taking charge of just one league fixture in 2018-19.

He qualified as a referee in 2000, aged 16, following in his father’s footsteps, who also officiated on the EFL. Adcock was appointed to the EFL as an assistant referee in 2008 and to the National List of Referees in 2011-12. He had also previously worked as a PE teacher at a secondary school for nine years.

So far this season he has shown 28 yellow cards and two red cards in seven games.

Mr Adcock will be assisted by Shaun Hudson and Richard Wild, the Fourth Official will be Anthony Da Costa.
