West Riding referee Samuel Barrott will take charge of his first-ever Town game at Bolton Wanderers at the weekend – although he has visited Blundell Park as a fourth official in the past.

Barrott was one of a number of referees who were promoted to the EFL during the summer.

He became a referee after picking up an injury playing football. He was playing football at a decent standard for Halifax Town Youth Team and always dreamed that he would make it as a player in the professional game.

Mr Barrott’s EFL debut came in September when he took charge of the Morecambe v Rochdale EFL Trophy tie.

During 17 games in the National League last season he showed 44 Yellow Cards and Two Red Cards.

He will be assisted at the University of Bolton Stadium by Andrew Hendley and Danny Gratton, the Fourth Official will be Christopher Ward.
