Rose & Wright Head Out On Short Term Loan

Grimsby Town Football Club can confirm that both Ahkeem Rose and Max Wright have joined Boston United on a one-month-loan.

Rose (19) and Wright (20) are both graduates of the Grimsby Town Academy system, with the latter starting in the system at the age of 9. Wright enjoyed a successful loan period at Scarborough United last season, scoring 15 goals and making over 15 assists for The Seadogs, helping secure promotion.

Both youngsters made their competitive debuts for The Mariners this season in our Carabao Cup First Round fixture vs. Rochdale. Despite making their professional debuts for the club, Manager Michael Jolley believes the time is right for the pair to earn valuable experience out on loan. “They are both young players that we have high hopes for, but like most players especially young players they need game time and it’s been difficult for them to get that here at the moment”, said Jolley. “We are going to loan them to Boston for a month initially and see how that goes and if it goes well then we can review it on an ongoing basis”.

Rose made a cameo appearance in our 2-1 victory over Notts County in the Checkatrade Trophy and made an impression on the Manager. “I think Ahkeem is certainly at the stage in which he can be a good impact player for us, I think he did really well when he came on on Tuesday and made an impact.”

“We don’t rule that out [staying with the squad] as an option moving forwards, we just think it’s being fair to him really, he needs to start games and get 90 minutes under his belt and into his development and the same can be said for Max. So it is in their best interest and our longer term interest to get them more game time”.

Rose and Wright will team up with former GTFC favourites, Nathan Arnold and Ben Davies at The Pilgrims, who currently sit 8th in the National League North after 8 games. We would like to wish Ahkeem and Max all the best in their spell at the club.
