We can confirm that Assistant Head Coach Shaun Pearson has departed the Club.
Shaun leaves Blundell Park having made an outstanding contribution to Grimsby Town across two spells as a player, before continuing to play an important role as a member of the Club’s coaching staff.
A commanding and committed defender, Shaun made 207 appearances in black and white and will forever hold a special place in the Club’s recent history. He was a key figure in two of the most memorable moments in modern Grimsby Town history, helping the Mariners secure promotion to the Football League through National League Play-Off Final victories at Wembley in both 2016 and 2021.
Following his retirement from playing at the end of the 2022/23 season, Shaun seamlessly transitioned into a coaching role with the Men’s First Team. He quickly established himself as a valued member of the backroom staff, working closely with the players and coaching team while continuing to demonstrate the professionalism, leadership and commitment that defined his playing career.
Shaun will now spend some valuable time with his family before exploring the next step in his coaching career and opportunities to continue developing his skillset.
Everyone at Grimsby Town would like to place on record their sincere thanks to Shaun for everything he has given to the Club, both on and off the pitch. His commitment, passion and professionalism have left a lasting impact, and he departs with the respect and gratitude of players, staff, supporters and everyone connected with the Mariners.
We thank Shaun for his outstanding service and wish him and his family every success for the future.
