Grimsby Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Birmingham City forward Keyendrah Simmonds on loan until January 2023.

The 21-year-old progressed through the Academy system at Premier League champions, Manchester City a club he was part of since the age of 8, before departing as a 19-year-old to sign a two-and-a-half year contract at Birmingham City in February 2021.

Simmonds went onto make his senior debut for Birmingham on the final day of the 2021/22 season away at Blackburn Rovers. The young attacker also has International experience with England, representing the Three Lions at both under 15 and under 18 age groups with five appearances for the latter.

Manager Paul Hurst spoke to gtfc.co.uk this evening to give supporters an insight into their latest signing.

“He is a player that has clearly got ability. He was at Man City and has been involved with England but it hadn’t quite gone for him at City and went to Birmingham. Again, it probably hasn’t quite happened for him as yet but nobody is doubting the ability that the player has.

“Hopefully, we can give him a platform to show that and give us again, more attacking options. He is quite a versatile player in the final third of the pitch so we will get him in, see where we can utilise him best but he is certainly a player who is very creative, very skilful and he can create and score goals, hopefully for us!”.
