When Crawley Town visit Blundell Park this Saturday, the Mariners will come together with Club partner Technical Absorbents to host an awareness and fundraising event in support of the Stroke Association.
The fixture has been dedicated to the charity as part of Technical Absorbents’ commitment to using its platform to raise awareness of the organisation and the vital support it provides to stroke survivors and their families.
There are almost 19,000 stroke survivors living in Lincolnshire, but surviving a stroke is just the start of what can be a long and gruelling recovery journey.
Anyone, at any age, can have a stroke, and its impact can be traumatic. Brain injury caused by a stroke can leave survivors unable to move, see, speak or even swallow, with the effects often continuing long after the initial event.
The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for stroke survivors and their families, while also funding vital research into stroke and campaigning for improvements in care.
Over the past year alone, the charity has supported 66,000 people, responded to 15,000 enquiries and invested £2.4 million in research, while raising £31.4 million to support its work.
How you can support
There will be a number of activities taking place around Blundell Park on Saturday, giving supporters the opportunity to learn more about the Stroke Association and contribute to its work.
Donation points will be located around the ground, with supporters also able to donate via a QR code included in Saturday’s matchday programme.
An awareness stand will be located in the Pontoon/Lower Corner area, where supporters can find out more about the charity and pick up promotional giveaways.
A dedicated Stroke Association banner will also be displayed in the Technical Absorbents Stand, while information about the charity will feature on the Club’s internal TV screens and within the matchday programme.
As part of Technical Absorbents’ Community Tickets initiative, 30 tickets for Saturday’s fixture have also been provided to the Stroke Association, helping members of its community experience a Mariners matchday at Blundell Park.
Every donation, no matter how large or small, will help the Stroke Association continue its vital work supporting stroke survivors and their families. The charity is incredibly grateful for any amount supporters are able to give.
