Rekeil joined the Mariners in the summer of 2023 from Shrewsbury Town after making forty-two appearances in all competitions during the 2022/23 season for the Sky Bet League One club.

Best known as a striker, Pyke has also played out wide and, during the 2022/23 campaign, featured regularly in an unfamiliar wing-back role.

The Leeds-born 25-year-old came through the youth setup at Huddersfield Town and took in loan spells with four clubs: Wrexham (2016 & 2018-19), Colchester United (2017), Port Vale (2017-18) and Rochdale (2019-20) across his four years with the Terriers. He only made one appearance for Huddersfield, in February 2020, before leaving the club the following summer.

Following his Huddersfield release, he made the switch to Shrewsbury Town, signing a three-year deal. Across his three seasons with the League One club, he made seventy-seven appearances in all competitions.

Upon departing Salop, he signed a two-year deal with the Mariners with Paul Hurst confirming that, despite playing different roles in recent years, he sees Pyke as a centre-forward.
