After featuring heavily for Stevenage in their League Two promotion-winning campaign last season, Danny made the switch to Blundell Park after expressing his desire to return to the North to play his football.

A hardworking, industrious centre-forward, Rose came through at Barnsley before a loan spell with Bury in Spring 2014 led to a permanent move that summer. After spending two seasons at Gigg Lane, making sixty-two league appearances and scoring fourteen goals, he moved on to Mansfield Town where he spent four campaigns.

Making almost 150 league appearances for the Stags and scoring thirty-eight goals, Rose became known for his target man-like qualities, despite being less than six foot tall.

In October 2020, Rose joined League One side Northampton Town for an undisclosed fee and signed a two-year deal. After again being a regular presence for his team, he was recruited by Steve Evans to be a part of his Stevenage squad that, after scraping survival in the 2021-22 season, found themselves in the upper echelons of League Two before sealing promotion.
