The Mariner Returns For Stockport

Our award-winning matchday programme ‘The Mariner’ returns this afternoon for the Bank Holiday visit of table-topping Stockport County.

In addition to notes from the gaffer, Chair Jason Stockwood and CEO Debbie Cook, we open with ‘Players & Fans As One’ as Jim Barwick looks back at the recent away day at Chesterfield, a day which will live long in the memory as one of THOSE away days for the travelling Mariners.

In the spotlight, this Friday is winter recruit Gavan Holohan, who speaks to us about his introduction to the Mariners squad, his recent success in the National League as well as his memorable first goal for the Mariners, a 35-yard thunderbolt at Chesterfield. We also take a look at our four recent Academy graduates who have penned professional terms with the club in Jamie Bramwell, Harvey Tomlinson, Aaron Braithwaite and Edwin Essel, showing the fantastic work carried out by Neil Woods and the team is continuing.

Grimbarians continues its matchday feature ‘One of our Own’, with Peter Cribb. Peter has either been watching or playing football for the last 70 years but for the last decade, he has been the driving force behind Grimsby Ancient Mariners, a walking football club for people over the age of 55 and one of the town’s most popular community groups.
