Grimsby Town Football Club is supporting the EFL’s Together Against Racism campaign at tomorrow’s game against Gillingham, kick-off 3pm.
At Grimsby Town FC, we believe that Football is a game for everyone, everywhere, and we are proud of the welcoming atmosphere that you create at Blundell Park every matchday. However, last season there were still 141 incidents of racist abuse at EFL grounds, and likely more that went unrecorded.
Racism will not be tolerated, and we stand together to remove it from our game.
Those engaging in racist abuse face up to five years in prison and football stadium bans of 10 years. Last season, 17 fans were banned from their Clubs and 24 faced police convictions for racist abuse at EFL grounds, with many more being referred for restorative justice or still under investigation.
Grimsby Town FC strives to ensure it is truly reflective of the diverse communities it represents and stands side by side with players, managers, supporters and the EFL to tackle racism in our game.
How to report an incident
We are committed to tackling incidents relating to discrimination or inappropriate behaviour in order to reduce the incidence of such occurrences.
If you encounter a ‘hate crime’ – any incident that the victim or anyone else thinks was motivated by hostility or prejudice based on one of the personal characteristics outlined above – you can report it immediately by filling out the online form at gtfc.co.uk/reporting-discrimination or email report@gtfc.co.uk.
If you are attending any home matchdays and you have received or been witness to, or have any concerns about any hate incident, you can report it immediately by texting 07926 575610 – this will be picked up by our matchday safeguarding officer.
Kick it Out also provide a reporting app, which allows supporters the ability to attach video, photo and audio evidence to complaints to help support investigations into discriminatory abuse and behaviour. Visit the Kick It Out website or download their app for free from the Apple App store or from Google Play.
If you encounter similar incidences at away fixtures, please speak to a steward or club official at the venue or report the incident via the home club’s designated reporting system.
Please note that reported acts of disciplinary conduct by the Club’s supporters, home or away, are also highly likely to lead to formal disciplinary action by the FA.
One Club. One Community. Together Against Racism.
Enjoy the game.
