Geza Turi believes Town deserved more than a point from Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Fleetwood Town, with the Mariners midfielder frustrated by the goals conceded but pleased with the team’s overall performance.
Turi was named Player of the Match after producing an influential display at Blundell Park, including a superb assist for Andy Cook’s second-half goal.
Despite Town having to settle for a point, Turi was already looking ahead to Tuesday’s trip to Accrington Stanley as the Mariners continue their unbeaten start to the league campaign.

On the result
Turi felt Town had done enough to take all three points.
“I don’t know. I think we were the better team today and we had quite a few chances.
“We could have scored more, but they defended well and I think we just let them have two easy goals. We shouldn’t really give them those.
“I think we should have won, to be fair.”
On his Player of the Match performance
Turi was named Player of the Match after another impressive performance in midfield, but the 24-year-old was more concerned with the result than individual recognition.
“Thank you. Well, I’m not too happy. I’m never happy.
“I always want to win, so we have to go on to the next game on Tuesday against Accrington and just have to keep moving and try to win that game.”
On the atmosphere at Blundell Park
The midfielder felt the passionate atmosphere helped drive Town on during an entertaining and competitive afternoon.
“Yeah, the fans made it really nice as well.
“Every time a tackle came in, the fans just erupted and it just makes us want to fight for more.
“I think we were close, but it wasn’t enough today.”
On the importance of the support
Turi was pleased to see another strong crowd at Blundell Park and hopes the support can continue throughout the season.
“It’s nice to see a lot of people come to the game and just more and more.”
On remaining unbeaten
Saturday’s draw means Town remain unbeaten after their opening three league fixtures, but Turi knows the team must continue pushing for victories.
“Yeah, that’s the plan.
“We have to win if we want to get promoted, so we just have to keep moving forward and get going.”
