U18s: Town Back To Winning Ways After Cup Final Upset

After the disappointment of a cup final defeat last week, our U18s saw off league leaders Notts County at the weekend.

Town made a positive start when Adlard went close, Tomlinson saw his shot deflect wide also. The Mariners were creating the best of the chances albeit possession was even.

And Town broke the deadlock on the half-hour when Potts’ free-kick was headed home by Smaller.

But at the other end, Boyes had to make a smart save down to his left to keep Town ahead.

The second half was much of the same – County pressed higher and put numerous balls into the Town box but the hosts backline held firm, Town had chances at the other end as Adlard shot wide, whilst Hodgson and Tomlinson brought the best out of the County keeper.

County continued to pile on the pressure but Town defended well as a team, blocking shots, and winning headers in their own box.

A competitive game in which Town run out 1 – 0 winners.

Next up: Burton Albion away.
