Grimsby Town Football Club is inviting applications for the role of First Team Senior Physiotherapist, a key position within the Club’s performance and medical team.
Based in Cleethorpes, this permanent role will see the successful candidate play a leading part in delivering elite-level medical provision for the Men’s First Team, supporting players through injury prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation.
Working closely with the Head of Medical, coaching staff and the wider performance team, the First Team Senior Physiotherapist will help maximise player availability and ensure the highest standards of care are provided both in training and on matchdays.
The salary for the role is £35,000 – £36,750 per year, and the closing date for applications is Friday 17th April 2026.
About The Role
This is an important position within the Club’s medical structure, responsible for overseeing physiotherapy provision for the First Team in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as lead physiotherapist for all First Team training sessions and matches, ensuring appropriate emergency first aid provision at training and both home and away fixtures
- Providing evidence-based assessment, treatment and rehabilitation programmes for First Team players
- Developing and enhancing the injury treatment and management programme, ensuring approaches remain aligned with the latest research and best practice
- Maintaining detailed and accurate medical records in accordance with legislation, policies and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy standards
- Implementing and monitoring a treatment and injury management strategy in collaboration with the First Team coaching staff, Head of Performance and Sports Science team
- Working alongside the Sport Science Lead as part of a multidisciplinary team to oversee and adjust individual player programmes
- Liaising regularly with coaching staff to keep them informed of diagnoses, treatment plans, rehabilitation progress and overall player wellbeing
- Analysing and reviewing injury management strategies to ensure programmes meet the evolving needs of both individual players and the squad
- Implementing injury prevention and reduction strategies alongside the sports science department
About The Candidate
The Club is seeking a highly organised and proactive individual who thrives in a high-performance environment and has a passion for sports medicine.
The successful candidate will possess:
- BSc in Physiotherapy
- Chartered Physiotherapist status (CSP Registered)
- Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
- Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF) qualification
- FA Safeguarding Certification
In addition, candidates should demonstrate:
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Experience using online medical record systems
- Knowledge and understanding of professional football environments
- Previous experience working in elite sport
- The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- A commitment to continuing professional development
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and matchdays
As the Club works with young people, this role will be subject to a DBS check and requires strict adherence to safeguarding and child protection policies.
