Wearne Extends Loan

Stephen Wearne’s loan at Torquay United has been extended by another month.

The Town winger joined the Gulls at the beginning of November and has made seven appearances for Gary Johnson’s side so far, including both games against Derby County in the FA Cup.

Town boss Paul Hurst spoke to gtfc.co.uk about Wearne’s loan extension at Plainmoor:

“After some consideration, I’ve agreed to let Stephen stay at Torquay. I felt after speaking to Stevie, and trying to be fair to the player, it made sense for him to stay there for another month and continue to play games – then we’ll assess the situation again at the beginning of January. There is a call back in place should we require it, so we have some cover with it going into the second month.

“Hopefully he can continue to keep playing and get a few goals and assists along the way.”

The former Sunderland player will be available for Torquay’s trip to Dagenham & Redbridge tomorrow.

All the best, Stephen!
