With twenty-four minutes on the clock, a one touch move down the right channel with Jacklin, Brighton and Wharton, lead to an opening. Pedersen could only fire wide from the edge of the area.

With the Mariners turning the screw, a breakthrough came on 42 minutes. A corner from Kershaw was fired home with a bullet header from Wray to put Town ahead.

Half Time

With Rotherham starting to get a foothold in the game they got the equaliser after 70 minutes. A brilliantly worked pass and move sequence which saw the visitors through one on one against Grey. She was able to save the initial shot but could only parry the ball into the path of the fellow Rotherham striker Hale. Hale made no mistake and was able to tap in the loose ball.

Minutes later the Millers again found themselves through one-on-one. Grey was able to tip the ball wide of the post this time.

With the Mariners looking to get back in front, the ball was lost high up the pitch. The visitors with a long ball forward led to a freekick, which was played into the box. Wray’s attempted clearance resulted in the ball cannoning off Rotherham striker Gale, and into the bottom corner of Grey’s net to put the visitors ahead.

With ten minutes left of the game, Town pushed forwards with Pedersen testing the Rotherham keepers’ hands. Kershaw then saw her freekick get tipped over with a brilliant save. Rotherham held firm in the final minutes to see out all three points.
