Town had a two goal advantage through Grayson Giles and Jack Collins, but two goals in quick succession from the hosts soon got them back on level terms.
The Mariners thought they had the winner when Henry Brown netted the third of the game for the vistors, but the Hatters found the back of the net to draw things level yet again.
Neil Wood’s side took the lead on the 20-minute mark from the penalty spot. Tom Rennardson was bought down in the box and it was the inform Grayson Giles who stepped up and converted from 12 yards to give Town the advantage.
The second-half started in the same manner as the opening 45 minutes in a well-contested affair and it was Town who doubled their advantage early on.
Giles latched onto a through ball from Kristian Catchpole before playing in Jack Collins who slotted past the Stockport keeper.
The hosts responded very well to the two-goal deficit, scoring two goals in quick succession to level the score.
Town found their third when Henry Brown headed home from an Alex Graham corner, but Stockport responded yet again to make it three a piece.
Town created a few more chances before the full-time whistle blew but couldn’t beat the Hatter’s keeper to find a winner.
