YOUTH TEAM REPORT | GRIMSBY TOWN 0-1 SHREWSBURY TOWN

The Mariners Youth Team fell to defeat at home to Shrewsbury in a frustrating game saw the Mariners unable to find the back of the net despite dominating play.

Neil wood named an unchanged side from hie side’s Youth Alliance Cup Victory midweek victory over Bradford City as they looked for back-to-back wins on home soil.

Town started well, with an Alex Graham header forcing the Shrewsbury shot-stopper to make an excellent save early on.

Grayson Giles was also denied from close-range as he looked to slot the ball into the Shrewsbury net to give the Mariners an advantage.

The visitors took the lead midway through the first-half when a wide free-kick was turned home.

Town continued to dominate the ball and pile on the pressure in the second-half and almost every black and white shirt registered a shot on goal, but frustratingly couldn’t find the back of the net, with Shrewsbury taking home the three points.

The Mariners are next in action on Wednesday the 9th October as they travel to face Harrogate in the Youth Alliance Cup.

Town: Rogers, Shipstone, Jalloh (Onoh, 46’), Foy, Storr, Graham, Collins, Hatton (Rennardson, 80’) Giles, Brown, Foster (Smith, 46’)
