YOUTH TEAM REPORT | SALFORD CITY 4-2 GRIMSBY TOWN

Grimsby Town’s Youth Team were on the losing end of a six-goal contest as two goals weren’t enough to overcome Salford City’s four away from home.

The opening exchanges of the game were scrappy, before Town took control of possession.

Against the run of play, it was Salford who opened the scoring as a deflection off a black and white shirt saw the ball find its way into the back of the net.

Town settled down after going a goal down and gained control of possession once again and were rewarded when they found the equaliser.

Charlie Hatton’s corner was converted by Jack Collins to level the score.

The Mariners struggled to regain possession and take control of the game from that point onwards and Salford regained the lead before the break.

Town never got going in the second-half and Salford quickly increased the gap in the scoreline when they capitalised on a loose back pass before adding a fourth soon after from close-range.

Town pulled one back as Mamadu Jalloh finished well inside the area.

Next up, town face Bradford City in the Youth Alliance Cup at Bradley Football Development Centre in a 12pm kick-off.
