Youth Team Run Riot At Huddersfield

Grimsby Town made the journey to Huddersfield on Saturday morning as they returned to league action.

Town started the game well and did come close when Khouri’s half volley smashed back off the post. Huddersfield did have the ball in the net but it was adjudged offside.

Town took the lead after putting on the pressure when Branwell’s cross-come-shot went in off the post. Moments before halftime, after some neat interplay Tomlinson’s shot went in off the post to double Town’s lead before halftime.

The second half saw an impressive Town pile on the pressure Tomlinson got his second two minutes after the restart.

Essel then broke free to smash home for Town’s fourth of the day, before Markham and Scott combined to see Markham’s deflected shot make it five.

Town continued to apply the pressure when Essel was brought down for a penalty. Tomlinson stepped up to score the spot kick to secure his hattrick and bag Town’s sixth!

Town were not finished there, Boyd smashed home from Thorpe’s assist and Khouri rounded off the scoring with a tidy finish to make it an emphatic 8-0 victory on the road!

Next up for Town is Crewe Alexandra away in the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday. The fixture will take place at Mornflake Stadium and will kick off at 7pm, with free admission for those wishing to attend.
