We are delighted to announce the remake of one of the club’s most iconic home shirts.
Working with the retro football shirt specialist COPA, we have re-produced the 1981 home shirt which features the vertical ‘Findus’ logo.
Having won the Third Division title the previous season, the Mariners finished 7th in the second division in 1980-81 after a 33-year absence. Mid-season, the home shirt was re-designed after Findus’ traditional logo proved difficult to see against our famous black and white stripes. The resulting jersey proved to be very popular and has long since drawn acclaim from supporters and football shirt enthusiasts alike. Over 40 years since it was last worn by the Mariners, it’s back on sale!
Due to supply chain issues which has delayed the production of the shirt, we only have a limited number of these in stock. However, the remaining stock we have ordered is due just after Christmas and should be on sale from the Club Shop and online before the end of the year.
Please note that after this initial batch of shirts sell out, we will be making the remaining shirts available on pre-order from early next week.
The ‘81 remake costs £60 and is currently only available from Mariners Direct in sizes small to XXL by clicking here.
Regarding the sizing, it’s worth noting that these shirts are standard fit, and therefore fans will not be required to size up like with Macron shirts.
We hope this new retro shirt proves to be just as popular with fans as the previous two have!
UTM and Merry Christmas!
