We can announce the signing of goalkeeper David Harrington on a seven-day emergency loan from Bolton Wanderers.

The 26-year-old joins the Mariners on a temporary basis and provides additional cover between the sticks.

Harrington began his career with Cobh Ramblers before joining Cork City in January 2018. The goalkeeper enjoyed a successful spell with Cork, making 29 appearances during his final year with the club as they secured promotion by winning the 2022 League of Ireland First Division.

His performances attracted interest from a number of clubs, before agreeing a pre-contract with Fleetwood Town and completed his move to the Cod Army in January 2023.

Harrington made his Fleetwood debut on the final day of the 2023/24 season, keeping a clean sheet in a 3-0 victory over Burton Albion.

Harrington moved to Bolton Wanderers in January 2026, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Championship club. The goalkeeper has also represented the Republic of Ireland at international level, having been called up to the senior squad for the first time in May 2024.

He was subsequently called up to the Wales senior squad later that year, qualifying through his Welsh father.

Harrington now joins Town ahead of this afternoon’s fixture and will be available for selection.

Welcome to Grimsby Town, David!
