Grimsby Town Football Club is very pleased to announce that Michee Efete has signed a new two-year deal with the Club, keeping him at Blundell Park until the summer of 2024.

The 25-year-old right back impressed during his first season with the Mariners, appearing 30 times and scoring four goals, including the last-minute winner at Notts County back in February which sparked a run that resulted in promotion back to the EFL. Injury unfortunately saw Michee sidelined for the play-offs, but the former Wealdstone man was there to cheer on his teammates to a memorable promotion.

The Town right back spoke to gtfc.co.uk about his new deal and his delight at remaining at Blundell Park for the next two seasons.

“I’m over the moon with signing a new deal. I’m thankful to the Gaffer and the Club for having faith in me. I’m loving playing for the Club, and I’m loving the town and the fans as well. I’m excited where this Club is going and I want to be a part of it.”

“Last season was obviously a bit stop-start for me personally due to the injuries I received, but when I played, I thought I did well. I want to get fitter and stronger for the new season because I feel like I only showed the fans half of what I can do. Hopefully, over the years to come, you will get to see my full potential.”

Town boss Paul Hurst also spoke to gtfc.co.uk and shared his thoughts on Michee’s new deal.

“I’m really pleased that Michee has agreed to a new deal that will keep him with us for the next two seasons. I think he’s adapted to life well at Blundell Park and was a threat for us last season. Obviously, he suffered a couple of injuries and we’re hopeful he can recover in time for the beginning of pre-season.”

“Michee offers a lot to us going forward, with his athleticism and pace, and we hope that he’ll continue to develop with us; albeit now in the EFL which will be a new challenge for him.”
