Grimsby Town Football Club are pleased to announce that Goalkeeper, Sam Russell has signed a one-year extension at the club.
Russell joined the club in the summer of 2018, joining the playing squad as well as taking on the role as goalkeeper coach, working alongside James McKeown and also helping with the development of Oliver Battersby and Hugo Banks.
Manager, Michael Jolley spoke of his delight to gtfc.co.uk at securing Sam’s services for an additional year.
“I am delighted that Sam has committed to Grimsby Town again”, said Jolley.
“He has been a vitally important member of my staff since he joined the club. Sam has worked extremely well with James McKeown to help Macca produce his outstanding form last season. Furthermore, Sam has played an instrumental role in Ollie Battersby’s development”.
“When Sam is called upon to play, he proves time and again that he is an excellent goalkeeper in his own right. We are delighted that Sam will be with us moving forwards”.
In total, Sam made a total of 8 appearances in all competitions during his first season at The Mariners.
