Manager Paul Hurst and his Mariners team have been awarded the Utilita Performance of the Week award by the League Managers’ Association panel following our victory at Southampton.
The panel, comprising Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Chris Hughton, Rachel Yankey, Les Ferdinand, Clare Tomlinson, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, selected the gaffer after seeing two Gavan Holohan penalties seal a historic 2-1 victory at St Mary’s on Wednesday.
That victory sealed the Mariners’ first Emirates FA Cup Quarter-Final since 1939 as well as seeing the team become the first to beat five teams from higher divisions in consecutive rounds in the tournament’s history, starting in the First Round.
Everyone at the Club is incredibly proud of the gaffer and his team for Wednesday’s cup heroics and are delighted to see the team’s efforts acknowledged in this way.
