Grimsby Town youth team hosted second place Hartlepool at Bradley FDC on Saturday morning.
Town made a positive start to proceedings when a passing move which could well be a goal of the month contender involving several players working the move from their own half ending in a Henry Browns cross which Cameron Gardner obliged by tapping home to put the young Mariners ahead.
Town doubled their lead immediately after opening the scoring, a powerfully hit Shakeel Brown free kick was parried by the pools keeper who failed to gather the effort and the opportunistic Cribb got to the rebound first to head home for a second.
Grimsby were in fine form and made it three when Henry Browns run was met with a great first touch before he fired low past the keeper for a third.
The hosts continued their rich vein of goalscoring form by adding a fourth and a fifth before half time. Garnder again registering on the scoresheet with a classy finish from inside the box before he added his third to complete his hat trick with another goal of the month contender smashing a volley into the top corner from the edge of the box.
With an unassailable five-nil lead at the break Town showed no signs of letting up as they went into the second 45 in search of extending their already handsome lead.
Five became six as Charlie Clements broke getting on the end of a loose ball and finished well from close range. Brown was again involved as the Mariners made it seven, a brilliant ball found Jack Collins who controlled and dispatched to put the game to bed.
Town will be looking to take their goalscoring form into their next match as they head to Shrewsbury in the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday night.
