David Artell was appointed Grimsby Town Head Coach in November 2023 and steered the Mariners away from the drop zone in the latter stages of the 2023-24 campaign.

Artell then lead the Mariners to a ninth-place finish in his first full season in charge.

Before taking on the role in Cleethorpes, Artell managed League Two counterparts Crewe Alexandra from January 2017 up until the end of the 2021-22 season, leading them to promotion into League One in 2019-20 when Covid cut the football season short.

Artell’s playing career spanned almost 500 games, playing for Morecambe, Mansfield and Crewe who he later took charge of.
