Grimsby Town Football Club has achieved bronze status in the EFL’s Family Excellence for the third year running.
The scheme assesses the experience football clubs across the EFL provide families on a matchday, scoring clubs across a range of touchpoints including ticketing, communication, customer service, facilities and matchday entertainment. Of the 69 clubs achieving Family Excellence status, 18 were recognised as ‘Gold Award’ winners and a further 51 attained either silver or bronze – including the Mariners.
Across both visits to Blundell Park last season, we received an overall score of 7.3 (last year was 6.7) and our retail and merchandise, ticketing, refreshments and online presence received special praise, while our marks for facilities, customer service and overall experience were also improved on previous reports.
In response to the Club achieving Family Excellence Status again, CEO Polly Bancroft said, “We’re delighted to have once again been recognised by the EFL for the positive matchday experience we create for our supporters and families.”
“It’s important that football clubs create a welcoming atmosphere to all kinds of supporters and achieving bronze status proves that we are doing that at Grimsby Town Football Club.
“Last season we improved the way we communicate with supporters, both pre and post game, began getting youngsters involved pre-match with penalty competitions against Mighty Mariner and we created a countdown to kick-off video to use on the big screen prior to the players emerging from the tunnel.
“Although our overall score of 7.3 out of 10 demonstrates improvements in all areas, our aim is to keep improving all aspects of the matchday experience at Blundell Park in 2025-26 and beyond.
“I’d like to thank all of our teams involved who helped us achieve bronze status again.”
